If you love exploring the great outdoors there is nothing more rewarding, or useful, than getting the most out of your map and compass. Knowing how to read contour lines, take bearings and judge distances on a map are vital outdoor skills which will keep you safe and get you venturing further afield than you ever have before. Join our local mountain leader Phil Tinning as he takes you high above Basecamp to learn the basics of Navigation in this introductory Navigation Workshop.
Join Phil in a small group and get your skills polished up for the Summer. Bring a friend and learn as a team or simply look over someone’s shoulder and find out how it’s done. No pressure, no exam! After this no one’s going to get lost!
Equipment and clothing: Please be aware of the weather forecast and bring suitable clothing. Lightweight, waterproof walking boots are ideal. A map and compass will be provided but bring your own if you wish.
Dogs: Your best friend can come along free of charge as long as they are kept on a lead.
